The body is a complex and intricately  engineered machine, it must be cared for and fueled for it to work well. You MUST EAT and include ALL food groups in your diet if you intend on loosing excess fat, becoming healthier and achieving your best body.

How exactly do the different food groups work and why do you need them all?


These are very essential to muscle building, having energy, maintaining balance and staying healthy.

Complex carbohydrates are best, they contain less simple sugars and digest slower. Complex carbohydrates are great because they keep you fuller for longer and in doing so they can help you cut down unnecessary net calories.

Examples are: Brown rice, Oats, Plantain, Beans. Quinoa, Yams, Sweet Potato, Spelt, Fruit .


This aids indigestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating. Fibrous foods keep you fuller for long and release energy steadily which means you eat less and remain energized throughout the day. They also help promote a healthy gut system, helping you to pass waste easily.

Examples are: Broccoli, Kale, Sweet Potato, Beetroot, Corn, Kidney Beans, Chick peas are all easy to prepare, tasty and highly fibrous foods.


These is essential to building and repairing muscles. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolic rate, the faster your burn fat, the quicker you achieve your goals!

Examples are: Lean Chicken Breast, White/Omega-3 Fish, Prawns, Egg Whites, Beans, lentils, nuts, Greek Yoghurt or Soya milk.


Fat doesn’t make you fat, excess calories do.
You need fat to lose fat! How does that work? The body is an intelligent machine if your fat intake is lower than what it needs, it goes into starvation mode and conserves any fat you have.  Not eating fat is like not have fuel to burn calories.

Thus in order to reach your goals you need to consume “healthy” fats (unsaturated fats) that help reduce cholesterol levels, limit it to 15-20% of your daily nutrient intake.
